Srisailam is popular for Srisailam Dam & Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The place enshrines by Lord Mallikarjuna by way of a linga covered by a three-hooded cobra. This traditional temple built in the Dravidian style with substantial systems and expansive courtyards is one of the finest samples of Vijayanagara structure. Though the exact origin of the temple is missing, the 2nd century AD Satavahanas have referred to it. The Kakatiyas and the Vijayanagara leaders have made several endowments here.
