Description

In the Indian mythology related to the establishment of Mahakaleshwar Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, different stories are found. According to one there was a king vrshabh sen in Avantika. He used to spend most of his time in worshiping Shiva. Once the neighboring king attacked the kingdom of Avantika. vrshabh sen faced this war with complete courage and won the victory. The neighboring king thought of some other remedies to take revenge for his defeat. For this he took the help of an Asura. That monster was given a boon to be invisible. The neighboring king attacked the Avantika kingdom with the help of that monster. King vrshabh sen took help from Lord Shiva to avoid these attacks. By listening to the call of the devotee, Lord appeared in the state of Avantika. They defended the people from the Ashura and neighboring kings. On this, King vrshabh sen and the people request Lord Shiva to remain in the state of Avantika to prevent further attacks of enemy in the future. Because King vrshabh sen and the people request Lord request, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of Jyotirlinga.

Therefore Mahakaleshwar is also considered the supreme ruler of the earth. This is a southwest Jyotirlinga. According to the scriptures, the lord of south direction is Yamraj Ji. It is said that whenever a person comes to the temple to pray to Lord Shiva with a true heart, he is liberated from the tortures received after death. It is said that due to the presence of Lord Shiva, the issue of premature death get resolve and the person gets direct salvation.

By coming here, Lord Shiva fulfills desires like wealth, grain, healthy body, long life, children etc. Here the use of fresh chicken was used only in the festival of Mahakala, but in the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi’s request, there was a conspiracy to be created by the classical method.
